Dublin City Council has officially launched an extensive consultation process aimed at crafting the next Local Biodiversity Action Plan for the capital. This initiative kicked off with a collaborative workshop involving environmental experts, community organisations, and public officials, all gathered to address the pressing challenges and unique opportunities for restoring nature within our urban landscape.
Under the banner of 'Your Voice. Our City. Our Nature', the Council is now inviting residents from every corner of the city to contribute their experiences and ideas. Lord Mayor Daryl Barron, who attended the launch alongside various stakeholders, emphasised that public participation is vital to ensuring the final strategy reflects the genuine priorities of local communities and fosters meaningful environmental stewardship.
A series of community workshops will take place throughout this autumn to facilitate direct feedback. Sessions are scheduled for Ballyfermot Library on 1 October, the ILAC Library on 15 October, The Hive in Herbert Park on 20 October, the Red Stables in St Anne’s Park on 22 October, and a final meeting for the Finglas/Cabra area on 29 October.
