Teagasc is set to launch its nationwide series of Transferring the Family Farm clinics next Tuesday, offering crucial insights for households navigating the complexities of succession. Building on the momentum of September's Generational Renewal Week, the upcoming sessions aim to equip farming families with the practical knowledge required to manage land transfers effectively. The opening event will take place at the Ardboyne Hotel in Navan, County Meath, before the roadshow travels to various locations across the country through to early November.
Attendees will benefit from confidential, one-to-one consultations with a diverse team of local solicitors, accountants, mediators, and agricultural advisors. Representatives from the Citizens Information Board will also be available to discuss state entitlements, pensions, and the Fair Deal Scheme, while the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine will address registered farm partnerships. Furthermore, specialist forestry advisors will provide guidance on land use planning, taxation, and valuable reliefs such as Agricultural Relief, which can significantly reduce capital acquisition tax liabilities for eligible applicants.
With the upcoming tree planting season on the horizon, the clinics will also highlight financial incentives available under the national Forestry Programme, including options for native woodlands, agroforestry, and smaller-scale planting schemes. Farming families are strongly encouraged to attend these complimentary sessions to avail of objective, up-to-date expertise. Full scheduling details and dates for regional events are available on the official Teagasc website.
