Padraig Fitzgerald and Enda Geoghegan have been formally appointed as Regional Advisory Managers within Teagasc, a decision ratified by the Authority on 7 October. Fitzgerald will oversee operations in Tipperary, while Geoghegan assumes leadership of the Galway and Clare region. Both professionals bring extensive experience to their new positions, where they will coordinate local teams to provide essential advisory services and educational programmes to farmers across their respective areas.

Fitzgerald, who joined Teagasc in 2004, holds qualifications from UCD and University College Cork in agricultural science and leadership. He has previously served as a sustainability advisor and worked in dairy and drystock roles in Limerick and Kerry. Meanwhile, Geoghegan, a graduate in agri-business and rural development, began his career in 2001 as a REPS planner in Crossmolina. He has since worked as a climate change advisor in Ballina and a drystock specialist in Mayo, bringing a strong background in beef farming from Westmeath.

Thomas Curran, Head of the Teagasc Advisory Service, congratulated the new appointees, highlighting their wealth of expertise and looking forward to their contributions to the management team. The new roles were created following the retirements of Donal Mullane and Pat Clarke, both of whom enjoyed distinguished careers in agricultural education and advisory services. Curran expressed gratitude to Mullane and Clarke for their significant contributions to the sector over many years.
