Businesswomen from Westmeath, Laois, Longford, and Offaly converged at The Village Barn in Tyrrellspass to commemorate the 20th anniversary of National Women’s Enterprise Day (NWED), Ireland’s largest celebration of female entrepreneurship. This year’s event, organised by the Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs) of the Midlands, was the most expansive yet, with 16 nationwide sessions addressing brand differentiation, digital marketing, sustainability, and operational resilience.
The Midlands gathering welcomed over 140 businesswomen for an enriching morning of expert talks, networking, and collaborative learning. Hosted by Midlands 103 broadcaster Courtney Callaghan, the event showcased keynote addresses by leading figures such as Fiona Matthews, CEO of Applegreen; Denise Buckley of Wholesome Kitchen & Sugar Plum Sweetery; Helen Conneely of Celtic Roots Studio; and Sarah Jane Foster of The RAW Network. These entrepreneurs shared valuable insights on fostering creativity, innovation, branding, and empowering local enterprise.
National Women’s Enterprise Day continues to champion female entrepreneurship by highlighting the extensive resources available, including funding, training, and mentorship through Local Enterprise Offices and Enterprise Ireland.
