Farmers across the country are urged to verify their fertiliser purchase details on the National Fertiliser Database before the imminent 30 October deadline. This step is crucial to ensure eligibility for the EU Fertiliser Exceptional Aid Scheme, which supports agricultural producers with financial aid.
The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon TD, announced the deadline extension to give farmers additional time to review and correct their fertiliser sales data associated with their herd number for the 2025 fertiliser year, covering 15 September 2024 to 14 September 2025. The Department advises farmers to log into MyAgFood.ie to review their records carefully.
If a purchase is missing from the database, farmers should initially contact their fertiliser merchant, as they are responsible for recording sales. Additionally, farmers not yet registered on the National Fertiliser Database must do so by 30 October to qualify for payments under the scheme. For comprehensive details and terms, farmers can consult the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine's official website.
