Enterprise Ireland has introduced Startup Ireland, a comprehensive national initiative aimed at simplifying the journey for founders to start, scale, and succeed within Ireland’s startup ecosystem. This programme, unveiled alongside the Startup Ireland Roadmap, focuses on creating a more connected and founder-centric environment by uniting government bodies, investors, universities, and industry partners. It sets an ambitious target to support the creation of 1,000 new startups and to increase the number of startups achieving €1 million in turnover by 20%.
Central to Startup Ireland is the establishment of the National Startup Hub, located in Dublin's city centre alongside Enterprise Ireland's new headquarters. This hub will serve as a focal point for connecting startups with investors, multinational companies, researchers, and regional partners, facilitating access to expertise, mentorship, and international markets. Complementing this is the National Accelerator Programme, which offers a €100,000 investment for participating companies to accelerate growth, and a Talent Accelerator aimed at early-stage founders, fostering company formation and progression towards pre-seed funding.
A highlight of the initiative is the Startup Ireland AI Accelerator, delivered by Dogpatch Labs, which will provide selected startups with 12 weeks of intensive support from leading technology partners such as Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Amazon. The programme includes a two-day international visit to Paris’s AI hub to connect with investors and peers. Ministers Peter Burke, Alan Dillon, and Niamh Smith have all emphasised the importance of this coordinated effort to strengthen Ireland’s startup ecosystem, while Enterprise Ireland’s CEO Jenny Melia and Head of Startup Ireland Conor O'Donovan highlighted the initiative's role in fostering innovation, international scale, and economic growth. Further details and the full roadmap are available through Enterprise Ireland’s official channels.
