Dún Laoghaire retains 15% property tax discount
At their October meeting, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council members voted to keep the existing 15% reduction in the Local Property Tax (LPT) for the year 2027. This decision means homeowners in the county will not face higher LPT charges due to changes in the local adjustment factor.

Council management had proposed lowering the discount from 15% to 7.5% to increase revenue, which they argued would support the funding of local services and infrastructure projects. Officials warned that maintaining the full discount would reduce the council’s income by around €10.4 million.

Despite recognising the potential impact on budgets for services and development programmes, councillors chose to preserve the current level of relief, ensuring no change to the local LPT rate will be applied next year in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.
