The Wonky Woolins, a multi‑award‑winning children’s brand that employs over 150 women from marginalised communities, took part in the Local Enterprise Village at the National Ploughing Championships. Supported by the Local Enterprise Office Dublin City, the company showcased its heirloom‑quality toys to nearly a quarter of a million visitors, selling out by day two and fielding pre‑orders on the final day.
Founder Chloe Gardiner reflected on the experience, noting that media appearances on Ireland AM and the Sunday Independent had built a strong online following, which was finally put to face‑to‑face use at the event. Head of Enterprise Warren Cray praised the Village for offering businesses a rare platform to engage directly with a diverse audience and to access specialist advice on funding, sustainability and digital transformation.
The Local Enterprise Village, which hosted 30 LEO‑supported enterprises and featured a Business Advice Hub, a Google AI team and the Enterprise Europe Network, will return in 2027 at Rathangan, Kildare, from 21‑23 September. Small firms interested in joining should contact their local office, while further information about the range of LEO initiatives remains available on the official website.
