The Creative Activity Garden at the HSE’s St. John’s Community Hospital in Enniscorthy recently provided a stunning backdrop for an autumn collaboration with Wexford Festival Opera. This multi-functional space, designed to support health and wellbeing, served as the perfect venue for a special Culture Night event that brought the arts directly to the heart of the local healthcare campus.
Singers Vlad Sima and Charlotte Baker, accompanied by pianist Rebecca Warren, delivered a captivating performance as part of the festival’s 'Synapses' outreach programme. These talented artists, who will feature in the upcoming 75th Wexford Festival Opera running from the 15th to the 31st of October, were joined by speakers Yvonne Mays and Elizabeth Drwal. The afternoon also included a delightful musical programme presented by 'The Yellow Bellows' from Music Generation Wexford, with refreshments kindly provided by the hospital’s catering team.
Since its opening last year, the garden has become a vital community asset, supported by the HSE, Wexford County Council, and the Town and Village Renewal Scheme. By fostering connections between residents, staff, and neighbours, the project continues to honour the spirit of Culture Night, ensuring that creativity remains a cherished and nurtured part of daily life for everyone in the community.
