Assembly, Ireland’s acclaimed project from the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale, is now on display in Dublin as a highlight of Cultúr 2026, the official cultural programme marking Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Presented by Cork-based Cotter & Naessens Architects, the installation occupies the public concourse of Áras Mhic Dhiarmada / Busáras from 22 October to 22 November, accompanied by How We Gather – a rich, four-week programme of talks, workshops, tours, readings and public encounters.
Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport Patrick O’Donovan praised the initiative, emphasising its role in showcasing Irish architectural excellence within one of the country’s iconic modernist buildings. Assembly invites visitors to engage in collective reflection and dialogue, mirroring the ethos of Ireland’s Citizens’ Assembly through its circular, modular design crafted from Irish beech and featuring a central Ceadogán rug.
Curated by Cotter & Naessens Architects alongside multidisciplinary artists and craftsmen, the installation combines architecture, sound, craft and film to create an immersive gathering space. The accompanying How We Gather programme, curated by artist Luke Casserly, explores themes of democracy, public space, belonging, and community through a series of events including architectural tours, youth workshops, discussions on rural life and housing, and poetry readings. This collaborative effort is supported by Culture Ireland, the Arts Council, the Office of Public Works, and other partners. For full details, visit www.irelandculture2026.eu/event/assembly/
