A transformative funding initiative designed to revolutionise cultural infrastructure across the country has been officially launched by Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan TD, alongside Minister of State Noel Grealish TD at the Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray. The newly established Arts Capital Investment Fund will inject six million euro into local facilities, empowering organisations to undertake essential refurbishments, advance climate action measures, and implement vital universal access improvements. By supporting both professional venues and grassroots voluntary groups, this forward-looking pilot scheme aims to weave creativity deeply into the fabric of everyday community life.
The strategic investment is structured across three distinct categories to ensure tailored financial backing for applicants. Category one provides grants of up to one hundred thousand euro for equipment, category two offers up to two hundred thousand euro for construction works, and category three delivers up to fifteen thousand euro in equipment funding specifically for community and voluntary organisations. Grant rates will cover up to ninety-five percent of costs for standard applicants and seventy percent for local authority-owned spaces, ensuring broad and equitable participation throughout every region.
Applications for this exciting programme will open for an eleven-week period, giving local groups ample time to prepare their submissions. Full guidelines, eligibility criteria, and application pathways will be accessible on the official Department website, with the submission window running until 18 December 2026. This landmark programme marks a significant step forward in democratising access to the arts and safeguarding vibrant cultural hubs for future generations.
