Young members of the 29th Blackrock Scout Den joined An Cathaoirleach Cllr Barry Saul to unveil a vibrant mural at the Scout Den, marking a creative contribution to Ireland's EU Presidency 2026 programme. Delivered by The Walls Project in partnership with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, the initiative allowed participants to explore themes of resilience, preparedness, and innovation while developing a unique visual narrative for their neighbourhood.
Cllr Saul highlighted the palpable energy of community unity surrounding the unveiling, noting that the artwork reflects shared values between the Scout movement and the European Union. He emphasised that the project serves as a lasting reminder of the meaningful outcomes achievable when young people, artists, and public bodies collaborate to create art that inspires the wider community for years to come.
Chief Executive Frank Curran described the mural as a powerful testament to how European funding and local partnerships can yield tangible benefits. He noted that beyond the visual impact, the process fostered deep ownership and pride among those involved, highlighting the value of cross-sector cooperation in building inclusive, connected, and forward-looking spaces for people to live, learn, and thrive.
