The National Transport Authority has officially launched a public consultation regarding ambitious proposals to introduce dedicated town bus networks in the rapidly expanding County Kildare communities of Naas and Newbridge. These planned transport services are designed to operate for up to eighteen hours a day, seven days a week, featuring frequent intervals to ensure reliable daily travel for thousands of local commuters and families.
Under the current proposals, each town would benefit from two comprehensive routes operating every thirty minutes in both directions. The networks are carefully designed to link residents with vital amenities such as Naas General Hospital, local train stations, educational institutions, retail parks, and major employment hubs. Furthermore, the strategic placement of stops ensures that more than eighty-five percent of the population in both areas will reside within four hundred metres of a designated bus stop.
Local residents, business owners, and community groups are invited to examine the detailed route maps and submit their feedback through the official National Transport Authority consultation portal. The deadline for all public submissions is Thursday, 12 November 2026, at 5.00pm. Subject to necessary funding approval and infrastructure development, the National Transport Authority aims to roll out these transformative public transport services between 2028 and 2029.
