Navan Dublin bus route to receive major upgrades
The National Transport Authority has finalised plans to upgrade the NX bus service connecting Navan and Dublin city centre, following a public consultation process. The route, which has seen substantial growth since its 2017 launch, currently handles over 20,000 weekly journeys but has faced reliability issues due to rising demand and traffic congestion.

To address these challenges, the authority will implement a revised timetable from 11 October. This update introduces two additional early morning departures from Navan and increases peak-time frequency from every 20 minutes to approximately every 15 minutes, representing a 24 per cent rise in service levels. Passengers can also look forward to improved connections as the route will now terminate at Moss Street, near Tara Street Station, facilitating easier transfers to DART and commuter rail lines.

The decision follows 81 submissions from the public, which largely supported the proposed capacity and reliability improvements. By removing the previous stop at Westland Row and the route via Merrion Square and Wilton Terrace, the service aims to mitigate delays caused by city centre congestion. Full timetable details will be published prior to the launch, ensuring commuters are well informed about the new schedules.
