National Transport Authority seeks views on Carlow bus network
The National Transport Authority has opened a public consultation inviting local residents, businesses and regular commuters to share their views on the existing town bus network in Carlow. Submissions will be accepted until 5pm on Monday, 2 November 2026, with the aim of gathering valuable insights to inform potential future enhancements for the area.

Since launching in July 2023 and operated by Bus Éireann, the network featuring the CW1 and CW2 routes has recorded more than 1.2 million passenger journeys. Operating at 30-minute intervals—and combining for a 15-minute frequency along overlapping central sections—these services currently link major residential, educational, retail and transport hubs while offering seamless connections across the wider Transport for Ireland infrastructure.

John Nott, head of service planning at the National Transport Authority, emphasised that public input is vital as planners evaluate three years of operational data. Detailed background materials and submission guidelines are available on the official National Transport Authority consultation portal.
