Contactless payment arrives on TFI Local Link Wexford routes
Commuters travelling on TFI Local Link services in County Wexford can now enjoy greater convenience following the nationwide rollout of contactless ticketing. Passengers are now able to pay for single-journey fares onboard using debit cards, credit cards, and popular digital wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. This modern update follows successful pilot programmes and regional expansions across various counties, highlighting a nationwide push to improve accessibility and streamline public transport for rural communities.

While contactless options are now fully integrated for single trips, traditional payment methods remain fully supported across the network. Customers can still utilise cash, Free Travel Cards, and TFI Leap cards, while daily and weekly fare products continue to be accessible via the TFI Leap Top-Up App and website. Transport officials noted that the strong uptake in previously upgraded regions demonstrates a clear passenger preference for fast, secure, and flexible payment solutions.

Edmund Betagh, TFI Local Link Programme Manager at the National Transport Authority, emphasised that the expansion reflects an ongoing commitment to enhancing the overall customer experience. Meanwhile, Mark Kinsella, General Manager at TFI Local Link Wexford, welcomed the initiative, noting it will significantly improve local connectivity and provide greater flexibility for passengers. Further information regarding local timetables and services is available on the official website.
