Scotstown secure fourth consecutive Monaghan title
Scotstown asserted their dominance in the Monaghan Senior Football Championship with a commanding 1-22 to 0-10 victory over neighbours Truagh at St Tiernach's Park in Clones. The reigning AIB Ulster Club champions showcased their class from the outset, with early two-pointers from Conor McCarthy, Kieran Hughes, and Mícheál McCarville setting the tone.

Despite efforts from Truagh’s Christopher McKenna and Seán O’Connell to narrow the gap, Scotstown’s Max Maguire, who was named Man of the Match, fired two long-range scores that extended their lead. The breakthrough goal came on 22 minutes when Ryan O’Toole capitalised on a slick pass from Tommy Mallen to find the net. At halftime, Scotstown held a five-point advantage, 1-9 to 0-7.

The second half belonged entirely to Scotstown as captain Rory Beggan’s accuracy from frees and two-pointers helped them pull away. Truagh managed only a couple of points early on before failing to score in the final 28 minutes. Scotstown’s relentless scoring, including contributions from Conor McCarthy, Max Maguire, Ryan O’Toole, and Donnchadh Connolly, ensured a comprehensive win. Scotstown will now prepare to face the winners of the Derry SFC final between Magherafelt and Newbridge in the Ulster Championship next month.

Team scorers for Scotstown included Rory Beggan with 0-8 (four two-point frees), Max Maguire 0-5 (two two-pointers), and Ryan O’Toole 1-1. Truagh’s top scorers were Seán O’Connell (0-3) and Luke H McKenna (0-2). The match was officiated by referee Diarmuid Boylan from Donaghmoyne.
