Crossmaglen Rangers claim record 48th Armagh title
Crossmaglen Rangers emerged victorious in the Armagh Senior Football Championship final, narrowly defeating Killeavy 1-19 to 0-17 at the Box-IT Athletic Grounds. Despite strong opposition from their south Armagh rivals, Crossmaglen’s blend of experience and youthful energy proved decisive, as captain Callum Cumiskey proudly lifted the Gerry Fegan Cup, marking an unprecedented 48th title for the club.

The pivotal moment came in the 47th minute when Pearse Blessing netted a crucial goal, swinging momentum firmly in Crossmaglen’s favour. Although Killeavy, who had not won the senior title for 78 years, started strongly with Callum O’Hare’s impressive two-pointer, Crossmaglen’s O’Neill brothers—Oisin, Rian, and Aaron—alongside cousin Cian McConville, kept their side in contention throughout. The final also highlighted the impact of six championship final debutants, including Blessing, Aaron Haughey, Harry Cumiskey, Odhran Caraher, and Keelan McEntee.

The first half was a closely fought affair with Killeavy’s goalkeeper Shea Magill and forwards Fergal Boylan and Ciaron O’Hanlon scoring freely, but Crossmaglen’s response was swift and clinical. In the closing stages, Blessing and McEntee extended the lead, despite Killeavy’s efforts to narrow the gap. Ultimately, Crossmaglen’s composure under pressure ensured a well-earned victory in a memorable contest that celebrated both tradition and emerging talent in Armagh football.
