Tipperary University Hospital is grappling with exceptionally high demand in its Emergency Department, as a large influx of patients seek urgent medical attention. This surge includes many suffering from respiratory ailments and other critical illnesses, placing sustained pressure on clinical staff.
Due to the prioritisation of the most severe cases, patients with less urgent needs may experience considerable delays before receiving care. The hospital remains dedicated to treating everyone but urges the public to explore alternative healthcare options when possible.
Individuals with non-emergency health issues are advised to consult their GP during regular hours or use the GP Out-of-Hours service to alleviate pressure on emergency services. Additionally, the Cashel Injury Unit is available Monday to Friday, 8am to 6.30pm, providing treatment for recent injuries such as fractures, dislocations, and minor burns, including x-rays and wound care. Hospital management thanks patients and families for their patience amid this challenging period.
