Minister for Children, Disability and Equality Norma Foley has announced a €2 million investment to fund projects promoting equal employment opportunities for women under the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).
Thirteen organisations across Ireland will receive grants ranging from €100,000 to €200,000 each, with further funding expected next year under the Employment, Inclusion, Skills, and Training (EIST) programme. This initiative aims to dismantle obstacles preventing women from accessing employment and to support their ambitions in various sectors.
The projects span multiple counties and include programmes such as An Cosán’s Women’s Springboard Employment Programme in Dublin, Doras Luimní’s Women Beyond Borders in Limerick, and People 1st Employment and Skills Limited’s RISE initiative in Donegal. The funding, co-financed by the Irish Government and the European Union, emphasises empowering women to achieve economic and financial parity, addressing issues like the gender pay gap and social exclusion.
