Laois County Council has launched a call for expressions of interest under the 2026 Town and Village Renewal Scheme, inviting community groups and local stakeholders to propose projects that will enhance the vibrancy of their areas. This year’s programme is supported by national policies, including Town Centre First and Our Rural Future, with a significant update allowing towns within larger urban areas to participate for the first time.
Applicants may seek funding through two distinct pathways: the Main Scheme, which offers grants between €50,000 and €500,000 for large-scale regeneration, and the Project Development Measure, providing up to €50,000 for feasibility studies and design work. Eligible projects include the development of green spaces, the refurbishment of community centres, the enhancement of streetscapes, and the conversion of derelict properties into multi-purpose facilities. Successful applicants will generally be required to secure 10% in match funding.
Interested parties are encouraged to consult with Lesley Cowper or Haley Grant at Laois County Council to discuss their proposals before submission. All expressions of interest must be submitted in Word format to the council by 5pm on Monday, 19 October 2026. Further guidance and application documentation are available on the official Laois County Council website, and submissions may be sent via email or post to the Town Regeneration Section in Portlaoise.
