Malahide village transforms with major public realm enhancement works
A transformative revitalisation of Malahide village has officially commenced, promising to elevate the coastal destination into a vibrant civic hub for residents and visitors alike. Local leaders gathered to mark the milestone for the New Street Public Realm Enhancement Project, which builds upon the enduring success of pedestrianisation initiatives first introduced in the area back in 2020.

Delivered through contractor Maylim Limited, the comprehensive scheme will introduce accessible pedestrian surfaces, modern paving, atmospheric public lighting, and cycle parking facilities. Environmental improvements will feature thirty-seven newly planted trees, sustainable urban drainage systems, upgraded infrastructure, and dedicated outdoor dining zones, all carefully designed to champion active travel and community wellbeing.

Construction works will span approximately sixteen months, incorporating scheduled breaks during the busy summer and Christmas periods to protect local trade. Pedestrian access to all homes and businesses will remain fully open throughout the build, supported by a dedicated liaison officer available on the official website to assist traders.
