President Catherine Connolly formally received the Letters of Credence from three incoming ambassadors during a state ceremony held at Áras an Uachtaráin this morning. The event marked the official commencement of diplomatic duties for His Excellency Marc de Bourcy of Luxembourg, Her Excellency Joo-yeon Ellen Kang of the Republic of Korea, and His Excellency Ossama Elhady of Egypt.

The visiting dignitaries were accompanied by their families and respective deputy heads of mission for the proceedings. Minister of State Marian Harkin TD represented the Irish Government, while a delegation of senior officials, including Secretary General Orla O’Hanrahan and Chief of Protocol Patricia O’Brien, were also in attendance to facilitate the formal transition.

To honour the occasion, the ambassadors were escorted to the residence by a motorcycle detachment from the 2 Brigade Cavalry Squadron, led by Lieutenant Dillon McAuliffe. A Guard of Honour was provided by the 3rd Infantry Battalion, commanded by Lieutenant Conor Heary, while the No 1 Band, conducted by Captain William Chester, performed throughout the ceremony.
