Cathaoirleach Councillor Carmel Brady recently welcomed the British Ambassador to Ireland, Her Excellency Kara Owen, to County Cavan for a comprehensive official visit. The diplomat began her itinerary in the heart of the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark at Trivia House in Swanlinbar, where she engaged directly with local staff, tourism ambassadors, and members of the award-winning Geopark Regenerative Tourism Business Network.
Following her morning exploration of the geopark, the ambassador travelled onward to Cavan Town to tour the Cavan Digital Hub. During this stop, she met with regional business leaders to explore avenues for deepening commercial collaboration and fostering stronger economic ties between enterprises across Ireland and the United Kingdom.
The visit concluded with a trip to the Cavan Institute before heading to the Cavan County Museum located in Ballyjamesduff. There, the ambassador met with local elected representatives and experienced a guided tour of the facilities, which included the acclaimed First World War trench experience, recognised as the largest replica installation of its kind across both Ireland and the UK.
