Gardaí seize drugs worth nearly half a million euro
Gardaí conducted a major enforcement operation in the Balgaddy area of Lucan yesterday, resulting in the seizure of controlled drugs valued at approximately €469,353. The initiative, carried out under the banner of Operation Tara, involved thirty-one separate searches targeting residential properties, communal gardens, bin sheds, and surrounding waste ground to dismantle local supply networks.

The operation was spearheaded by the Ronanstown Drug Unit, with significant support provided by the Serious Crime South division, DMR West units, and the Garda Dog Unit. Beyond the substantial haul of narcotics, which included diamorphine, cannabis, crack cocaine, and alprazolam, officers also recovered €3,330 in cash and a Surron electric scooter. All seized items are now subject to forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation into the criminal activity uncovered during the day of action.

Authorities have confirmed that enquiries remain active as they process the evidence collected from the thirty-one locations. Investigators are currently focused on the forensic analysis of the seized exhibits and the examination of mobile devices recovered during the searches. Further updates regarding the progress of the investigation will be provided by An Garda Síochána as the case develops.
