The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has announced a recall of a particular batch of Bialetti Perfetto Moka Caramello ground coffee due to elevated levels of Ochratoxin A, a toxin produced by moulds that can develop during storage of crops. This contamination does not present an immediate health threat but could pose a risk if consumed over an extended period.
Retailers, wholesalers, distributors, and caterers are instructed to immediately withdraw the affected batch from sale and post recall notices where the product was sold. Consumers are strongly advised not to consume the implicated coffee.
Ochratoxin A is a naturally occurring toxin that forms mainly after harvest, during storage. While occasional consumption is unlikely to cause harm, minimising exposure is essential to safeguard long-term health. The recall aims to protect the public and maintain food safety standards throughout Ireland.
