Explore forestry expertise at Ireland’s Woodland Show
Ireland’s Woodland Show 2026 will take place on Saturday and Sunday, August 29 and 30, at the stunning Woodstock Gardens & Arboretum in Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny. This annual event, organised by Irish Wood Producers, highlights the valuable benefits of Irish trees and woodlands through a diverse programme of talks, exhibitions, machinery displays, mobile saw demonstrations, artisan crafts, food vendors, and family-friendly carnival activities. A highlight will be the Celtic Chainsaw Carvers, who will showcase their artistry by creating impressive sculptures.

Visitors to the Teagasc stand can engage with forestry advisors and learn about the latest applied research in forest management. Teagasc experts, including forestry advisor Tom Houlihan, will be available to answer questions on forest creation, sustainable management practices, and the forestry support schemes currently accessible to landowners. The event also provides an opportunity to discover upcoming Teagasc advisory and training programmes aimed at enhancing forestry knowledge and skills.

With the new tree planting season approaching, attendees are encouraged to explore the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s Forestry Programme. This initiative offers attractive financial incentives for various forest types, catering to different farming enterprises and scales. Options include native woodland, agroforestry combining trees with farming, commercially oriented conifer and broadleaf plantations, and the Native Tree Area Scheme for smaller plantings. Given that over 24,000 forest owners manage a wide array of forest types in Ireland, the show is an invaluable platform for accessing research-backed advice, sustainable management techniques, and support to optimise forest productivity in line with owners’ goals.
