The R132 Connectivity Project, which commenced in April 2026, is currently transforming a 3km stretch of road between Pinnock Hill and the Bostik Junction. Spanning four distinct phases, this initiative is designed to modernise local transport infrastructure while laying the essential groundwork for the forthcoming Metrolink programme.
As of 18 September 2026, development is focused on the first phase, covering the area between Bostik Junction and the Estuary Roundabout. To maintain momentum while limiting the impact on daily commuters, the council has confirmed that surfacing works will take place overnight from 21 September to 24 September. These operations will affect Estuary Road, the Estuary Junction, and the R125.
Recent site updates indicate that the Bostik Junction crossing is nearing completion, with significant progress made on the dedicated walking and cycling lanes.
