The pilot school programme targets five secondary institutions—Fingal Community College, St Finian's Community College, Swords Community College, Loreto College Swords, and Coláiste Choilm—by equipping pupils currently driven to class with free, refurbished bicycles and locks through a collaboration with The Rediscovery Centre and The Bike Hub. By removing transport barriers, the initiative seeks to foster independence among teenagers while easing morning traffic bottlenecks around school gates.
Running alongside this youth-focused effort, the Swords Bike Library invites local residents to borrow state-of-the-art e-bikes free of charge for up to three months. Delivered in partnership with Bleeper and backed by the National Transport Authority, participants can choose from standard, folding, or longtail electric models to test out sustainable commuting before committing to a purchase. Collections are organised through Applewood Community Centre and Holywell Community Centre, requiring only a fully refundable deposit to secure a vehicle.
