A concerning food safety alert has emerged as Wrights of Marino recalled a specific batch of sliced smoked salmon due to the detection of Listeria monocytogenes. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland confirmed the withdrawal on Friday, 2 October 2026, with recall notices now displayed at point-of-sale locations across the country.
While healthy individuals may experience mild flu-like or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and diarrhoea, the infection poses a severe threat to vulnerable populations. Pregnant women, infants, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems face the risk of serious complications, with symptoms typically appearing between three and seventy days after exposure.
Retailers have been instructed to immediately remove the implicated stock from sale and display the relevant recall notices. Consumers are strongly advised not to consume the affected product and to discard any remaining portions to ensure their safety.
