Water supply restored in Youghal after disruption
Residents and businesses in Youghal have had their water supply restored after a brief disruption linked to problems at the Boola Water Treatment Plant. On Sunday evening, a decline in the quality of the raw water source forced operators to stop production temporarily, leading to reduced treated water levels in the reservoir and potential supply interruptions.

Bernard Gallagher, a spokesperson for Uisce Éireann, confirmed that the reservoir has since replenished and water distribution has resumed. He noted that it may take some time for water pressure to return fully to properties located on higher ground or at the network's periphery.

Uisce Éireann emphasises its commitment to keeping customers informed through various channels, including their website, the X platform (@IWCare), and a 24/7 customer care helpline at 1800 278 278. Vulnerable customers who register with the utility receive direct notifications for outages lasting longer than four hours. Additionally, a free text alert service is available for real-time updates by signing up with an Eircode and mobile number via the Uisce Éireann Text Alerts page.
