South Dublin Council initiates compulsory purchase of derelict sites
South Dublin County Council has issued a formal notice of its intention to compulsorily acquire a series of derelict sites within its jurisdiction. This action is being taken under the powers granted by the Derelict Sites Act 1990, as amended by the Planning and Development Act 2000, as part of a wider effort to address urban decay and revitalise local neighbourhoods.

Detailed maps illustrating the specific locations of the affected sites are currently available for public inspection at the Council’s offices in Tallaght and Clondalkin. These documents will remain open for review during standard business hours until Thursday, 29 October 2026. Alternatively, digital versions of the maps and information regarding opening times can be accessed through the official South Dublin County Council website.

Any owner, lessee, or occupier wishing to challenge this acquisition must submit a formal written objection by 4.00 p.m. on 29 October 2026. These submissions must clearly outline the grounds for the objection and be directed to the Senior Executive Officer within the Climate Action department at the County Hall in Tallaght. All correspondence will be processed in accordance with the statutory requirements governing the compulsory purchase process.
