Have you ever thought a health service could be improved or witnessed care that truly made a difference? HSE Dublin and North East is calling on people to share these insights by joining its Patient and Service User Council, which advises regional leaders on enhancing healthcare.
Two positions are currently open: one for a young adult aged 18–25 and another for someone from an under-served community within North Dublin, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, or Cavan. The Council unites patients, family members, service users, and staff to discuss challenges and suggest improvements, ensuring that a wide range of voices influences healthcare decisions.
Fiona O’Driscoll, who leads this regional initiative, emphasises that no prior healthcare experience is required. The Council particularly encourages applications from individuals with lived experience of addiction, homelessness, refugees, Traveller, Roma, LGBTQI+ communities, and survivors of domestic or gender-based violence. Members commit to a two-year term, meeting bi-monthly in Kells, Co Meath, with training and support provided. Applications close on 2 November 2026 and can be submitted online, with assistance available for those needing it.
