Fingal prepares for a safe and magical Halloween season
As the nights draw in, Fingal County Council has unveiled a comprehensive programme designed to ensure a safe, inclusive, and vibrant Halloween for all. With nearly fifty events scheduled across the region—ranging from pumpkin carving workshops to fancy-dress discos—the initiative seeks to foster community spirit while providing families with positive ways to mark the season. Local libraries are also playing a central role, offering an array of spooky storytelling sessions and creative arts programmes that require early booking to secure a place.

Mayor Cllr Tony Murphy has praised the diverse schedule, noting that these gatherings strengthen the bonds between neighbours and reflect the unique character of the county. Building on the success of last year, Fingal continues to honour its status as the birthplace of Samhain through the 'Ireland Home of Halloween' project. This includes the highly anticipated 'Pumpkins After Dark' experience and the 'Festival of Fire' fireworks display, which will weave together folklore, heritage, and modern entertainment to create a truly memorable atmosphere for visitors and locals alike.

To maintain a safe environment, the Council is urging residents to avoid illegal bonfires and the burning of waste, a practice that incurs significant annual cleanup costs. Director John Quinlivan emphasised that the Safer Halloween Programme is vital for reducing seasonal risks and protecting the local environment. Residents are encouraged to visit the official Fingal County Council website to view the full event calendar, access eco-friendly decoration tips, and report any stockpiling of bonfire materials to the relevant operations teams in Balbriggan, Swords, Malahide, Howth, or Castleknock.
