Major drug seizures and arrest in Mallow operation
A significant drug enforcement operation took place in County Cork last Saturday as part of the national anti-drugs strategy, Operation Tara. The Cork County Divisional Drugs Unit, supported by local Crime Units, Regional Dog Units and the Armed Support Unit, executed planned searches across residential properties in the Mallow district.

During the operation, Gardaí seized cannabis with an estimated street value of approximately €208,000, pending forensic analysis. A man in his twenties was detained at a Cork County Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 and remains in custody.

A subsequent search in Doneraile uncovered additional cannabis with an estimated value of €115,000, subject to further examination. All seized substances have been forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for detailed analysis, while investigations continue to progress.
