This September, the Gaelic Athletic Association alongside the Camogie Association, Handball, LGFA and Rounders are asking their members to celebrate the contribution of young people to their club and county, both on and off the playing field. Developed by the National GAA Youth Committee, this inaugural initiative uses digital platforms to demonstrate how members aged between 15 and 22 shape an array of opportunities and community programmes.
Throughout the month, the governing bodies are sharing insights into successful endeavours such as regional forums, leadership initiatives, and participation surveys. Dr Paul Donnelly noted that Gaelic games serve as a vital part of Irish culture and community life, fostering social inclusion, mental well-being, and personal growth for participants across the island.
Uachtarán CLG Jarlath Burns emphasised that supporting and empowering young people is a crucial investment in the future preservation of Irish culture and identity. Adult members are urged to engage meaningfully with youth participants to future-proof their clubs, with further information available on the official social media channels.
