Two teenagers arrested following collision with Garda vehicle
Authorities detained two youths after a stolen car pursuit culminated in a crash with a patrol vehicle. The incident involved dangerous driving across North Dublin, leading to a court appearance for one of the individuals involved.

Gardaí launched an extensive investigation following the theft of a vehicle in Coolock, Dublin 17, during the early hours of 16th September. The situation escalated on the evening of 17th September when officers from the Mountjoy and Blanchardstown Traffic Units initiated a managed containment operation. This response was prompted by reports of the stolen car being driven dangerously, including instances of driving against the flow of traffic across the M50 and through the Whitehall, Finglas, and Ballymun districts.
The operation reached a conclusion at the junction of the M1 and the R132, where the stolen car collided with an official Garda vehicle. Officers successfully brought the vehicle to a controlled stop, and fortunately, no injuries were reported during the encounter. Two male juveniles, both in their late teens, were apprehended at the scene and subsequently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a station within the Dublin Metropolitan Region North.
Following the arrests, one of the teenagers was charged and appeared before the Dublin Children’s Court on the morning of 18th September. The second individual was released, with a file currently being prepared for the Youth Diversion Programme. Gardaí have confirmed that investigations into the matter remain ongoing at this time.
